Firefighter tag is still in legislation and should pass soon, generating approximately $166K annually for our fund.

New Business

No new business.

The next AFABF meeting will be held on July 17, 2024. Internal Audit Committee will meet

July 17, 2024. Meetings will begin as soon as the Personnel Standards Commissioners meeting concludes.

According to the Joint Fire Council the tag bill will be re-filed again this year with AFABF receiving $166k.

Motion made to secure legislative liaison/lobbyist to assist Fund with line item in budget and tag bill by Commissioner Dale Wyatt.

AFABF website is down, and host no longer offers technical support.

Motion made to pay Mike Burnett up to $2500 for web support by Commissioner Dale Wyatt.

Old Business

Commissioner Vaughan spoke with atty Marc Boardman regarding changes to legislative code.

Cost to make changes would be around $2,000.

Forestry Staff + Alabama Fire College Staff would be allowed to be members of the Fund.

Website repair is ongoing with progress being made. Additionally, a new cost would be incurred to move website to a new location.

Kathleen from Comptroller’s Office continues to work to help us remain independent from Fund finances going through the Governor’s office.

We have funds to be moved to investment account.
